Summoning demons has never been more popular — and the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen is here to prove it.

Based on the manga series of the same name, the story initially followed teenager Yuji after he joined a school club full of student sorcerers, before shifting focus to his mentor, Gojo.

Indeed, the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc – a prequel of sorts giving us a glimpse into Gojo's past – brought with it a shocking character death and revealed events that led to Geto becoming one of the series's main antagonists.

Now, the anime has arrived at the infamous Shibuya Incident arc, something that manga fans have been anxiously excited about for a long time – let's just say it marks the beginning of a dark path for the anime to walk down.

New episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen are generally released on Crunchyroll late afternoon in the UK.

How many episodes will there be in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2?

Like the first season, these new episodes will arrive in two batches, which means we're most likely going to have 24 episodes in total this time around again as well.

The two cours (as they’re also known) will only have a short break in between, meaning fans can expect new Yuji and Gojo content well into 2024.

Is Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 a prequel?

The first arc of season 2, the Hidden Inventory arc, is a prequel, following Gojo in his younger years.

Around the 12th episode, at the end of the first cour, we'll have a time jump, and will then follow Gojo as an adult alongside his students for the second cour.

After the Death Painting arc was completed in season 1, it was confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will adapt Gojo’s past arc alongside the Shibuya Incident arc.

Taking place in 2006, the season’s first few episodes follow Gojo in his school student days, learning how to deal with cursed spirits during their second year of learning.

MAPPA’s CEO Manabu Otsuka has already stated that season 2 is guaranteed to be completely different during an interview with Crunchyroll.

"The first season of the television series and the movie have been very, very successful. We would like to leverage that success for season 2, but we are not going to be doing the same thing and repeat ourselves.

"To the fans of the series, I would like to show even greater success and bigger growth in season 2."
