With so many excellent missions, we've been really keen to revisit them in a Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode, so today we'll be taking a look at if it will ever have it and your current options after the ending.

We were really taken by Spider-Man 2, as can be read in our review, so it's no surprise that we've collected every trophy to keep playing the game as long as possible.

Even when we have been able to tear ourselves away, we've had the terrific soundtrack on repeat.

We'd also like to explore an even more high-fidelity New York City in a potential PC version sometime down the line – but really we just want as much Spider-Man 2 as possible on any platform.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer, but perhaps it's best we won't be shutting ourselves away slinging webs over the festive period.

Does Spider-Man 2 have New Game Plus?

Surprisingly, Spider-Man 2 doesn't have a New Game Plus option at launch. While this might be disappointing, it doesn't mean the feature will never arrive, as revealed by Insomniac developer James Stevenson on X (formerly Twitter).

The New Game Plus mode won't be too far off in the distance, but slighter longer than originally planned, as we'll get into below...

Will Spider-Man 2 ever get New Game Plus?

The developers have now confirmed that, yes, Spider-Man 2 will get a New Game Plus mode, but it has been delayed to early 2024.

This was announced by Insomniac Games on X (formerly Twitter).

Both of the previous games in the series (2018's Spider-Man and 2020's Miles Morales) got the New Game Plus option eventually. Spider-Man 2 will have mission replays added later, too.

The first game had one only a month after its release. It was included in a patch that also added the Ultimate difficulty and a couple more trophies.

And the New Game Plus for Miles Morales was included at launch, so it's no surprise that Spider-Man 2 is getting it, too. We just have to be patient - but fortunately, not too patient.

With so many upcoming games, that gives us a couple of months to get through them before swinging back into New York City.

Can you keep playing after the ending in Spider-Man 2?

As we have said, Spider-Man 2 is an open-world sandbox with plenty to do. If you've only finished the main storyline, there are over 10 hours worth of side quests to get stuck into.

And even then, don't forget that New York is the city that never sleeps. There will always be crimes to stop, in between swinging through the streets you keep safe.

Also, the Ultimate difficulty is unlocked as soon as you finish the game – the same one that came later with a patch for the first release.

It's essentially a harder difficulty to start the game with. It's not quite New Game Plus, but it'll give you a challenge if things are getting too easy!
