Mummy issues abound in this animated comedy, in which an Egyptian charioteer and the Pharaoh's daughter go on an adventure in modern London. After being thrown together by chance, Thut (voiced by Joe Thomas) and Princess Nefer (Eleanor Tomlinson) are forced to leave the Egyptian afterlife and end up in the British capital. While searching for a ring that was stolen by an archaeologist, Princess Nefer also seeks to fulfil her lifelong desire to sing - the West End stage beckons! - and Thut attempts to conquer his post-chariot stress disorder. Filled with familiar elements from other, superior animations (the cute animal sidekick, the smart kid brother, the "follow your dreams" message), the film speeds towards a conclusion that is never in doubt. However, adults should enjoy the voice talent (Hugh Bonneville is particularly good as a grave-robbing English lord), while the animation is kinetic, and there is a standout musical number. The inclusion of the surely obligatory Bangles' song Walk Like an Egyptian just about sums up the breezy, harmless tone of the whole thing.
