Xbox Game Pass games: New free titles to play in December 2023

Many are no doubt still enjoying Starfield and Forza Motorsport, two much-needed first-party releases that helped to bolster the Xbox brand, but we'll never say no to more games.

The likes of Far Cry 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider and new releases Steamworld Build and Goat Simulator 3 are all being added just in time for Christmas. Santa is bringing these gifts early - and no, these aren't all we're gonna get.

We'll also be explaining the recent change made to Xbox Live Gold and what's replaced it in its wake, as well as looking at some future titles that are far off in the future - such as The Elder Scrolls 6.

But with so many games still coming out in 2023 and more being added to Game Pass all the time, we won't cut into your gaming session any longer. Read on for the full list of Xbox Game Pass games for December 2023.

Xbox Game Pass games: New free titles for December 2023

The new free Xbox Game Pass games for December 2023 are:

• Remnant: From the Ashes – 30th November
• Remnant 2 – 30th November
• Spirit of the North – 1st December
• Steamworld Build – 1st December
• Clone Drone in the Danger Zone – 5th December
• Rise of the Tomb Raider – 5th December
• While the Iron's Hot – 5th December
• World War Z: Aftermath – 5th December
• Goat Simulator 3 – 7th December
• Against the Storm – 8th December
• Tin Hearts – 12th December
• Far Cry 6 – 14th December

What games are leaving Xbox Game Pass?

While many games are added, some are being removed as of 15th December. The full list can be found below:

• Chained Echoes
• Opus Magnum
• Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator
• Rubber Bandits

What happened to Xbox Games with Gold?

Xbox Live Gold was discontinued on 1st September 2023 and those who kept their subscription will have been automatically swapped over to the new Xbox Game Pass Core tier.

This change-up removes the two free monthly games and replaces them with a library of around 30 titles - including Halo 5: Guardians, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Forza Horizon 4, to name a few. Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers will still be able to access online as well as certain deals and discounts.

Microsoft plans to update the Game Pass Core library two-three times a year, and in December 2023 is adding Chivalry 2 (6th December) and Totally Reliable Delivery Service (6th December) to the service.

Looking further into the future, the following Xbox Game Pass games have been confirmed for upcoming releases on the service, though a lot of dates are still to be announced.
