The PlayStation Plus free games for December 2023 have been revealed - and, people, we're looking at a great month to round out the year.

PS Plus in November was solid if you liked sci-fi shooters, anime multiplayers and, er, the mafia - we were treated to Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Dragon Ball: The Breakers and Mafia 2: Definitive Edition.

This month moves away from the sci-fi horror theme, but has us taking plastic cars, planes and boats to the race track, gliding through vast deserts and washing the gunk off of buildings, vehicles and even parks to de-stress.

As always, you'll have around a month to claim these, so don't hesitate to download all three free games!

If you have an Xbox or play on PC, too, be sure to check out what else you can play on the cheap on Game Pass.

Read on to see what PS Plus free games are on offer this December.

From Tuesday 5th December, PS Plus Essential members will be able to claim the following free games:

  • LEGO 2K Drive (PS4 + PS5)
  • Powerwash Simulator (PS4 + PS5)
  • Sable (PS5)

These games will be available to claim from Tuesday 5th December until Monday 1st January. As more games are confirmed for PS Plus, we'll update this page.

What do you get with the other PS Plus tiers?

Along with the aforementioned PS Plus monthly games, depending on your tier of membership, you can get access to hundreds of titles from across all of the PlayStation generations - even including the PSP!

PS Plus Extra nets you the three Essential games, but also grants you access to a whole plethora of great games, some of which are timed - so be sure to claim them before they go.

As long as you do claim them, you’ll be able to download and play them whenever you like, so long as you have an active PS Plus Extra account. Here’s just a handful of some of the great games on offer.

More like this
  • Control: Ultimate Edition
  • Death Stranding Director's Cut (PS5)
  • Days Gone (PS4)
  • Demon's Souls (PS5)
  • DOOM Eternal (PS4, PS5)
  • Horizon Forbidden West (PS4, PS5)

More and more games are added all the time, and starting from 19th December, you will be able to play the following.

  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • MotoGP 23
  • Metal: Hellsinger
  • Salt and Sacrifice
  • Moonscars
  • Mega Man 11
  • GigaBash
  • Grime
  • Tinykin
  • Prodeus
  • Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

This was announced by PlayStation on X (formerly Twitter) and on their PlayStation Blog, where you can read a little more on each game to see if it will tickle your fancy.

We can't wait to see what extra games are coming next month, as the selection is always pretty stellar. But until then!

As well as all the games included in the other tiers, PS Plus Premium lets you download and play older titles from PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP to harken back to a simpler time and relive your younger years.

PS3 games are only available via cloud streaming and this is region-dependent, but the UK is included in this list so we won’t miss out.

Below are but a few of the great classics you can revisit.

  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee (PS1)
  • Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1)
  • Resident Evil Director's Cut (PS1)
  • The Jak and Dexter series (PS2)
  • Dark Cloud (PS2)
  • The God of War Collection and God of War Ascension (PS3)
  • inFAMOUS and inFAMOUS 2 (PS3)
  • Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice (PSP)
  • Killzone: Liberation (PSP)

As a PS Plus Premium subscriber, you also have access to time-limited trials, which lets try before you buy and download a full game and play it for a set amount of time. The length of the trial varies depending on the game.

What’s also great here is that the progress you make on these trials will carry over if you end up buying the full game. We’ve got a selection of just a few below.

  • A Plague Tale: Requiem – Two hours
  • Cyberpunk 2077 – Five hours
  • God of War Ragnarok – Three hours
  • The Last of Us: Part I – Two hours
  • Hogwarts Legacy – 45 minutes
  • Sonic Frontiers – One hour

As you can see, longer RPG and story games get longer trials, so you can really get a good sense of what you’re getting into before you fish out your wallet.
